Nasendoscopy

After a phone call with my GP today I've been referred to the 2 week fast track cancer exclusion clinic 😳

I think I'll probably have to have a nasendoscopy to check what's going on in my throat.

Has anyone had this? What's it like?

I'm very squeamish regarding any medical intervention so I'm really worried about the procedure (as well as the results).

had one a few weeks ago - was fine. Took about a minute.

I had one on Monday. It was very quick. I gagged a little bit when it went to the back of my throat but it was fine, in and out.

I’ve had a few. To put it into perspective, I’m severely needle phobic (with medical ptsd thrown in for good measure) and usually end up needing sedation for pretty much everything eg. Dental work; MRIs, blood draws, vaccinations etc.

I happily tolerate this procedure without sedation.

It really is ok.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on Flowers

If it's any consolation OP, I've been on the two week 'fast track' system about 6 times to exclude various possible suspected cancers. I always been fine. It's just procedure. Good luck and if you feel you need sedating ask your GP for advice (maybe Diazepam), or ask at the hospital. Good luck.

Actually, I remember I had something like this before (tube up the nose) due to nasal issues. It was very painful and I fainted
(they didn't use any topical anaesthetic). So that wasn't a good outcome and I don't want that to happen again.

I'll phone the hospital beforehand to discuss it.

I had my appointment today and they did the nasendoscopy. THIS TIME, they used some anaesthetic so it was fine.

And I got the all clear. No cancer. I'm so relieved (I was trying not to think about it but there was a small cloud hanging over me this past few weeks).

🥳
