Painful vein suddenly appearing on fingers/hands

I really haven't described this correctly but I wonder if anyone knows why this happens.

I have experienced this for quite a number of years. It usually occurs after I've held on to something. For instance I was just hoovering (not holding onto it hard or anything), put vacuum cleaner away and then felt a sore feeling on one of my fingers, when I looked there is a small 'blown' looking area along one of my veins on my finger, it kind of swells and is painful and itchy. It will probably last for several hours, sometimes a few days then will return to normal.

I often experience this, it can be on any finger and sometimes on the palm of my hand.

What causes this?

Yes, it's blown capillary, hurts like hell but the bruise is quite often very disappointing!!

Not sure of your age, but I believe it is quite common in menopause.

Thank you.

I am 51. Great, so that's another thing to add to my long list of peri symptoms lol.

I had this lots of times over about 6 months or so, and yes, round menopause.

It seems to have gone away now (I'm 59).
