Random facial pain?

Yesterday I started to have some sudden pain in one side of my face, around my eyes, cheekbones and nose. Really painful and sore. Today the pain is now spread to the same side of my head all the way round to my neck. It's so painful! It feels so sore like my face is just being squeezed. It's throbbing. DP seems to think it could be coming from me teeth as my jaw is super sore on the same side too. I know no one can diagnose me but I'm prone to a bit of health anxiety and I'm having a meltdown thinking I'm about to have some kind of aneurysm or something?! What could it be thats not serious/deadly. Google not much help really! I'm just trying to calm myself down is why I'm reaching out x

It could be trigeminal neuralgia. It's severe facial pain that comes and goes. Hopefully your discomfort will subside soon but I'd definitely get to the GP.

I did look at this but the pain I'm feeling doesn't seem to be consistent. It's not agonisning and painkillers have took the edge off. Google says that trigeminal neuralgia is more of an electric shock type pain and this is more of dull ache/throb and feels sore to touch my face x

Could be sinus related? I also had this type of pain when I had covid back in July this year.

Sounds really weird, but bend forward and try to touch your toes and look down..if that hurts it could be sinusitis

I get this all the time. It’s my sinuses. Sometimes only one side, sometimes both. Hurts my whole face and even my teeth.

It doesn't hurt to do that but while I was out earlier and it was windy even the wind was hurting my face

Not as far as I am aware and I've never really had any kind of facial pain like this before

Could it be TMJ ? This sounds familiar as I was diagnosed with it .

I was thinking it could possibly be but only because my jaw often pops and clicks and I read that it can be TMJ if it does that. I wouldn't expect it to cause so much widespread pain though surely

It could be a lot of things but MN is unlikely to be able to diagnose. I would suggest dentist first to rule out a tooth related cause or TMJ. Then GP to check your ears which is the other most likely cause followed by shingles.
Trigeminal neuralgia is very rare and is known as suicide disease for a reason. The pain is unbearable and does not respond to painkillers. It’s take a while for the drugs used to have an effect and can go on for years. It is often triggered and is very intense.

TMJ will ease with antiinflammatories as will tooth and ear pain.

A tooth abscess often starts with diffuse facial pain that gradually localises to a tooth over a couple of days. It’s often eased with cold water.

Ear pain is the same and because the ear canal is close to the TMJ it is often exacerbated when you open and close your mouth or swallow.

Pain is part of the inflammation pathway so if you have pain something is inflamed.

Try painkillers and make appointments tomorrow.
