Excess bruising? Am I just a peach?

Hi all,

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always bruised super easy but lately it’s playing on my mind more. Recent blood tests for buisiness insurance, including full blood count, all normal, so I know my platelets are normal.

I’m a vet and if a dog jumps up at my legs they’ll often bruise.

Most worrying bruise is the below after a very rubbish blood collection draw from a nurse. He was prodding and poking for ages and I never knew they took bloods from that location. The other arm is from fertility bloods, and a more gentle approach.

Does anyone else bruise like this?

Yes! Covered in them all the time. I often joke that if I brush past a piece of furniture that's another bruise. Bruising from a blood draw was similar to yours. I'm sure some of my colleagues think I'm being physically assaulted at home (I'm not) as I often have finger tip bruises on my arms. I had blood tests - all 'normal' too I was told. Apparently one of my grandmothers was the same so maybe a genetic component? Also I think because I'm pale skinned the bruises really show up.

Sometimes when I have bloods taken or recently sedation at the dentist my bruises are scary. Get them on my right leg on calf god knows why

I am like this. All my blood tests are ok.

Yes I bruise like this. Those look fairly normal bruises for blood tests if one involved lots of prodding about

If your bloods are normal I wouldn't worry about it

You need specialist blood tests to check for VWD

Don’t think it’s likely to be this as normal periods, do not bleed excessively etc.

Thanks to everyone who has commented

There's literally nothing to indicate OP has VWD.

It’s the small unexplained ones I worry about

I am exactly the same. My backpack strap caught on my coat sleeve when I was rushing on the train recently and two colleagues asked me with some concern how I had damaged my arm so badly- I hardly felt it but my wrist was purple within a few hours. It doesn't help that I sometimes lack spatial awareness and walk into door frames. I also have very pale skin (the kind where all my veins are clearly visible) and bruises show up dramatically. The phlebotomist at my GP's practice is always appalled by how badly I bruise from blood tests. She's tried very fine needles but that just takes longer so I bruise from that as well!
