Hi
He has been feeling off for about a week.
It seemed to start with a cold with symtpoms such as headache, chills, he also felt quite hot around the back of his ears and forehead.

He was also complaining of a sore throat.
Now although alot of these symtpkms have eased off he has been left with a cough and he has complained that it hurts him everywhere in his chest, back, shoulders, when he coughs.
He is feeling very lethargic at the moment and seems to just want to rest and sleep.
He has been going to bed early every night.
He sometimes feels a little better, and will get up walk about, but then complains that he is feeling weak and sick and then has to sit down.
His appetite has not been the same either.
He actually missed work for the first time ever friday gone for the first time in 25 years.
He went today even though he didn,t seem ready for it.
I am a bit worried what do you think it could be.

Does sound like it might be a chest infection. Seems to be soemthing going round which really attacks the chest. he should go to docs, might need anti-biotics. If it's not an infection, tiredness might be due to his fighting it off.

lilolilmanchester · 28/04/2008 12:24

and if, like my DH, he avoids GPs like the plague, I know someone who has ended up in hospital having their lungs drained because they left it too long before getting treatment....

CountessDracula · 28/04/2008 12:26

glandular fever>?

greedypig · 28/04/2008 12:26

I find it really difficult to motivate him regarding going to the doctors.
He has not been in 15 years.
I have offered to make the appointment but he says no.
I know it sounds awful but I am finding it quite draining.

This could be pneumonia: if not that, then some other form of nasty chest infection. He's almost certainly going to need an antibiotic. (Pneumonia always sounds terrifying and is unpleasant to have, but it's very common to get it like this and just be coughing and feeling vile for ages). The only upside is: pneumonia is oddly not-particularly-infectious.

my dh is the same regarding the doctor and i really have to force him so by the time he gets there its bad.......hes not going to get better by himself so unlss he fancies a few nights in hospital then hes really got to go perhaps if you rang the doctor for advice and he suggested that your dh paid visit then dh might be more inclined to go? or ask the pharmacist he will either know what to do or he will say the docs either way your dh cant argue with medical advice can he ?

can he??????? lol

greedypig · 28/04/2008 12:40

Mine could.
He has never given a stuff what anybody else thinks or says.
But I really think its unfair on family when somebody is like this and they won,t do anything about it.
