Hey all,
Just had a peak flow test (where you do forceful) breath into tube for health insurance. Normal is over 400. I did 350, 360 and 380.

No asthma or breathing issues etc.

Should I be worried?

thanks

Probably no need to worry but as always you should seek medical advice from a qualified professional not over the internet.

"Normal" is a personal measure. If you had asthma, personal "normal" would be determined as normal for you when in good health.

Charts give indicative measures based on sex, she and height.

As an example - an indicative normal for me is 410 but when well I can get higher readings but similarly when ill with virus or asthma flare then it drops - most recent episode to 250 which is when GP will be concerned and prescribe extra meds to get things back under control.

Most people with asthma have a scale of of readings and action to take - eg at 80%, double up on inhalers, below 60% seek help from gp, etc

If you are over 80% of predicted normal without any symptoms of breathing issues then a doctor is unlikely to be interested. There are charts on the internet where you can check what your predicted normal would be for your age and height.
