Tiny splinters in baby's feet - what do I do?

So my mum very kindly offered to babysit the DSs this weekend and since it was nice they spent a lot of time outside on the deck. problem is DS2 (10 months) races around on all fours and didn't have socks on. he now has lots and lots (probably about 25) of tiny sctahces on his feet most of which seem to have splinters in them.

What do I do? I've always been in the "dig them out" brigade but dh thinks thats the wrong thing to do

help

Magnesium sulphate? Apparently, you smear it over the area and put a plaster(?). The next day, it would be near the surface and you can tweezer it out.

Having said that, I have never used the method before and certainly not on a baby. I read it before on mn.

Maybe someone else can come along and confirm.

We did the long bath last night but it was still impossible to pin him down and try to get them out. The scratches are now scabbing over too and I'm worried that will make it even harder to get the splinters out.

Hadn't heard the magnesium sulphate one. Will google it to find out more

would agree with blueshoes, my hubby is a heating engineer and constanly has splinters off copper pipes burrowed into his skin, the doctor recommended magnesium sulphate. You get a tiny tub of it at the chemist, dh has to smear it on to the area and cover it with a dressing to draw it out, it works well and stops infection.
