izzybobsmum - Snap about the headaches! I would finish my pill pack on the Monday and have severe almost migraine headaches on the Tue and Wed.
I forgot my pill one day and got the same sort of headache at lunchtime. At 1400 I suddenly realised I had forgotten my pill and took it and the headache went..... No headaches at all when running the packs together though. And I saw three different doctors and a nurse about them..

Think I might have a similar experience altho its hard to know what to put it down to really! However when I was off the pill I had such terrible pains that I would think I was going to faint.

Doc has recommended I change to Cerazette now I am nearing (ahem..) 40. Interesting to hear VanillaPumpkins experience, anyone else switched to this?

amazonianwoman · 28/04/2008 23:27

Every pill I ever took negatively affected my sex drive (microgynon, dianette, can't even remember which other ones - stopped at about 34 & I'm over 40 now, so distant memory )

Within weeks of stopping each time I used to have raging hormones - in a good way

Now I just blame temper & mood swings on being too old & knackered to look after 2 young kids...

progesten-based contraception has this effect on me.

AVOID the Mirena coil if you have a history of migraines or depression, particularly PND or AND.

I can take progesten-based contraception for this reason, sally, but I loved the combined pill, which is also out for me as I have hypertension.

Luckily, DH is getting the snip.

i seriously think that healthcare practitioners get paid a commission for every one of those fucking Mirenas they jack into women.

they soooo hard sold it to me when i was considering sterilisation that i finally told them i wanted it written on my notes that i did NOT want of those damn things jacked into me so please don't bring it up anymore. EVER.

then they don't want to take them out because they cost about £120/each so they keep telling you to wait for months and months whilst things 'settle'.

yeah, right.

the nurse told me, there could be bleeding spotting for up to 6 months.

i told her i found that an unacceptable side effect.
