my beautiful ds2 (10 months) has lumpy skin. he's had it since christmas. its all over his cheeks arms and legs. it looks like little spots. if it was on me i'd be squeezing away but of course i haven't on him.

the gp said excema and gave aqueous cream but its not dry at all. if anything its excess sebum. the skin itself isn't greasy but inside the lumps i'm sure it would be like a little hard spot.

anyone have any ideas?

sorry for lack of punctuation. doing one handed typing due to ds2 being flaked out on top of me

could it be Molluscum? google pictures as well

Sounds like my son's skin at that age, aqueous cream was no good for him. Heat makes it flare up even now, I'm sure it is sweat related yet no-one has ever confirmed that. I find that putting cream on at night aggravated it so I bathed DS in morning then slapped on diprobase (greasier than aqueous).

also started using surcare washing powder, and stopped using baby bath etc. just baby shampoo once or twice a week.

His skin got better as he got older.

dd1 had eczema that looked like this. It was misdiagnosed several times, but eventually the doc decided it was eczema. The aqueous cream really helped her.

ds has eczema that looks nothing like it though.

Don't think its that because my nephew had that.

It just looks like he needs to exfoliate!

Squonk and nosnik mybe I just need to carry on then. Feels odd though adding cream to skin which seems oily

you won't lose anything by giving it a try, MJ. If it doesn't help, then take him back to the docs.

Oops I can't spell eczema can I!

sounds like my sons skin condition, keratosis pilaris, skin is likened to sandpaper. Its excess keratin that builds up in the pores and blocks the hair follicles causing these spots. Our skin doctor has said ds has it really bad he got it at 7m and is now nearly 9. He has it on his face, tops of the arms and tops of his legs. Usually another member of the family has it, turned out my dh mother had it at the tops of her arms, she just thought it was rough skin and has had it for over 50yrs. sadly there is no known cure it can sometimes last lifetime or can clear in teenage years, ds just has emoillents, like diprobase cream and has oilatum for the bath, when we go on holiday the sun clears it up really well until we get back home, its gets worse in winter time too.

Oh I have this! Now I know what it is - thanks mawma! Only on tops of arms, but dcs have it a bit as well. Bugger all works for me but it is definately better in the summer. Whether it's the sun or cos I sweat which clears the pores I don't know.

...try a homeopathic skin remedy.
It worked for me.

titchy · 29/04/2008 13:08
