New report out was reported in guardian yesterday.

There are lots of issues here, the article shows the cost of switching to a healthier diet would impact poorer families more. But offsets this to the health and societal cost of not doing it. There are plans for government to regulate junk food advertising and ban energy drinks for under 16s but does more need to be done? Consumption of UPFs is set to rise further despite growing awareness of the health risks.

I am seeing so much ill health around me at the moment to which lifestyle inevitably has contributed. How did we get to a situation where most of what we consume isn't real food?

I do agree with you but I don’t like the labelling of junk food as “not real food”- I think people just switch off from that. It is still food- just not healthy food.

Yes you are right, it's hard to talk about this without judgement creeping in! I think I mean the UPFs where the ingredients are something you wouldn't or couldn't cook with at home.
