Child urgent referral for optic nerve concern

My daughter is aged 12, she’s on the waiting list for an Autism referral. Since starting secondary school last year, she’s been getting headaches and I thought it was down to sensory issues at school (bright lights, noise), on her phone for too long or hormones.

She was jumped on my bullies last week, she’s in the fourth school since 2020. We’ve had a lot of issues so when she tells me she has a migraine or her head hurts, I’ve always thought it was related to school. For the last few weeks, she has had blurry vision, flashing lights, and last week she had hallucinations - seeing a teacher but they really were not there.

Our Gp referred her to the paediatrician, we saw them two days ago and she said they were not migraines but “stress headaches” due to school. I then booked an eye test for my daughter and we went this afternoon. She had the test where she had to read letters and that was fine, then she had the scan behind the eye and the Optician said the part behind her optic nerve was blurry where they should have been straight, she’s had an urgent referral to a hospital.

Im just wondering if anyone else has had this please?

Did they use the word blurry? I'm not quite sure what this refers to.

However, in my case, the blood vessels at the back of my eyes are wiggly (this is the best word I can use to describe it) where they enter the optic nerve, and the edge of the opening is slightly raised.
In my case it isn't linked to anything serious though.

Does this sound similar or am I way off the mark?

Sorry, urgent referral to the local eye hospital and if I’ve not heard anything by Wednesday I have to call them.

Optician used the words “fuzzy” and “blurry”. I’ve done some reading and it looks like Papilladema 💔

Blurry generally means less distinct than usual ie blurred disc margins.

I’m glad they’ve referred her OP, especially with the recent headaches, but it could still potentially be something like optic disc drusen or just normal for her.
it could also be something less worrying which causes headaches like benign intercranial hypertension.
