Is a Serum Ferritin Level of 610 anything to be worried about?

If it's the standard NHS reference range then it's too high and needs investigation as there could be several reasons.

All I can find out is liver issues?

I dont drink alcohol so are there other things to consider?

Ferritin can change for quite a few reasons. No one on here can comment without the clinical context and rest of the results so the best person to advise you would be the person who requested it.

Dr have marked on my records normal for patient despite reading being much higher than previous.

Thank you I will speak to Dr but wanted a little knowledge before I go to know what questions to ask.

Are you on any medications that might cause it? That might explain why the doctor has marked it 'normal for patient'.

Sadbeaver · 16/11/2024 20:43

@TreesWelliesKnees I am on amitriptyline but thank you a good question to ask

Do you take a multi vitamin?

Sadbeaver · 16/11/2024 21:00

No I dont take a multi vitamin.

My reading was a bit high 2 years ago and I stopped taking the multi vit then. However the reading has got higher since.

Hi OP. Did you get to the bottom of this? Just received my results and my reading is 455 but Dr has marked as normal too.

Sadbeaver · 07/02/2025 17:44

@GreenLeaf25 I went to see a liver consultant privately and he did some more blood tests. The Tsat test was 31% so he said I did not have hemochromatosis.

He basically put my ferritin down to being not that healthly! My cholesterol is fine but the good cholesterol is low. My BMI is ok but only just so he also mentioned that.

But basically get fitter eat more Mediterranean diet etc etc.... still waiting to get for the GP appointment to discuss it with them.

Thanks @Sadbeaver. The GP hasn't followed up with me but I'll chase. I think you must be my digital twin though as I can imagine that's what I'll be told too!
