Dentists and cancelling

I need a filling done but I've cancelled my last 2 appointments because I've been unwell and have been in Hospital. I told the Receptionist who didn't care at all and said I'm giving you a warning cancel 3rd time and we wont see you. She said best to book when you are well. I also have a skin condition where I can potentially wake up any day with a swollen red face and in that case I will absolutely not leave my house. The Dentist told me it's a deep filling and near a nerve so may end up needing a root canal or to come out. What do I do I'm so stressed wondering what to do for the best do I make an appt and Hope I'll be ok on the day. If I don't go then I'm left with no dentist what do I do then. I think if I'm left without a Dentist and with this hole in my tooth then that's a problem but I can't guarantee I'll be well on the day and I'm so worried about cancelling a 3rd time and that's it. Thankyou for reading I wish someone could tell me what to do as I just can't decide what I should do. Thankyou for reading.

I think you need to work on your confidence about going outside with skin problems. I understand - I get eczema breakouts in my face that can be very red and angry and sometimes get facial swelling due to allergies but I don't let them stop me doing normal day to day things.

I'll only stay in if it's raw enough that wind or rain touching it is painful which doesn't happen often.

Can you just go in if you are unwell? Or maybe find another dentist.

Just get out of the door. Get it done. Return.

I was told this recently. My young adult dc has rearranged appointments and was told if he cancelled again he’d be out. He’s been attending this dentist regularly since he was about ten.

Couldn't find anything on their tens and conditions regarding this.

Is it an NHS dentist? If so I'd follow their rules. Obviously not your fault you were in hospital twice, but I would try your best to get to this third appointment.
You can fight them if they try to strike you off, but not a good use of anyone's time if you can get to the third appointment.

Red puffy face? Stick a pair of sunglasses and a face mask on, covid had one positive legacy, you can wear that combo completely hiding your face and no one would blink an eyelid.

Teeth never get better, I've delayed dental treatment in the past, a very costly and painful lesson in getting teeth sorted before the problem gets worse.

I sympathise with your issues. But the dental surgery is within its rights. It has got rules for a reason. They have told you a third cancellation means you are off their list.

You may feel you can't go on a particular day. Fine don't go. But when you make that decision accept that you will have to find a new dentist. Even if a thousand people on Mumsnet are sympathetic to you, it doesn't change that fact.

Thankyou for replies I phoned today and they gave me an appt for 2 weeks time so hoping I'll be well enough to go.
