Period pains all month

Lisanoonan · 13/11/2024 15:08

I've started having period pains all month. every day. I'm 40. It's been happening for the past year.

Obviously this is not right. However my docto r won't seem to do anything about it.

I've been to him many times.
What happens is he will send me in for a scan ( a couple of weeks later) then when I go into my hospital, they give me a scan and talk about my colon and bowels and things like that. That the stomach pain may be caused by constipation. I tell them again in the hospital that the pain is definitely in my womb, but they don't listen.

I'm not sure what to do! Any advice please

you’ve been multiple times and had tests within the last month?

gummania · 13/11/2024 15:21

because if this is a change in your symptoms ie constant, you need to rebook

gummania · 13/11/2024 15:22

Are you constipated?

No!

What I mean is when I go to my doctor with period problems, he books me in for a scan
In the hospital.

Then when i get to the hospital, the people doing the scan have no idea what I've gone in for. They think I've gone in for general stomach pain, not period pain. So they don't even seem to be looking at my womb. They look at my colon.

There is such a lack of communication

It's a GP practice. They constantly rotate anyway so I see some different GP every time I go in.

But they have all been men and they never seem to take what I'm saying seriously

I think there is something really wrong with my womb.

Go to the GP again and say you want a referral to Gynaecology. That'll sort you out.

LoafofSellotape · 13/11/2024 20:54

I had this and it was an ovarian cyst that needed removing. Go back to the GP and ask to be referred again. Write to the practice manager of necessary and explain the problem.

Thanks! How do they get an ovarian cyst out. Is it keyhole surgery under local anaesthetic?

Surely the appt letter would say what type of test you were going in for and what dept etc?

Surely? You've great faith in the health system.

No they don't seem to write the detail that I've told them on the letter.

The last time I was in the waiting room in the hospital, a woman in the waiting room told me that she had went into her doctor with pain in one part of her body.

He sent her in to the hospital for a scan. She told me that they scanned a completely different part of her body!

She said that she told them she was having pain in a completely different part of her body, but they didn't listen. And just told her that she'd have to go back to the doctor to get a new referral.

Ah I was thinking a proper scan of the colon like a colonoscopy etc so you’d be sent details of what you can and can’t eat etc before going.

Was it an ultrasound or ct scan? If ultrasound Id ask as they are doing it - what exactly are you looking at as I’ve had the wrong part before! Honestly what a waste of time for you.

Yes general and laparotomy.

google private pelvic ultrasound near you. I have one annually for peace of mind and it’s £110. You get images and a full report.
