Hi all, i suffer with severe anxiety but the last few weeks i have been unable to wake up in the morning without a crippling headache. I am drinking as much fluid as much as I can but when I wake up I have this throbbing headache and I need to go back to sleep because I'm exhausted. Any ideas?

Are you managing to sleep all night but then you wake up with a headache, or are you not sleeping well throughout the night?

And has anything changed in your diet or routine in general in the last few weeks?

FinallyMovingHouse · 13/11/2024 16:44

Anaemic? Try some iron (and vit C) pills for at least a few weeks to see if it helps.

JustLaura · 13/11/2024 17:51

How is your sleep quality?

Do you check your blood pressure?

hk1993x · 13/11/2024 22:43

I sleep all night, not sure about quality of sleep. I take vitamin b12 injections also. On escitalopram 20mg too. I've brought a bottle of water to bed with himalayan salt in it to see if that helps at all x

Sometimes I wake up with a terrible headache. I’ve worked out that it’s coming from my neck. It happens when I’ve had a particularly deep sleep.

Demurelemur · 13/11/2024 22:47

Please see your GP

ChillWith · 13/11/2024 22:49

Have you been assessed as having low vitamin B12? Too much can cause headaches... A blood test will show if you have too much in your system

Pixiedust1234 · 13/11/2024 22:51

I wonder if you are grinding and clenching your teeth in the night. Go see your dentist as they can usually tell.

GetrudeCoppard · 13/11/2024 22:57

The NHS app says you should see your GP if you’re waking up with a headache every morning. No-one on here can diagnose you; see your GP for reassurance.

Headaches can be a symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning. Do you have any gas appliances in your home?

Willooth · 13/11/2024 23:01

You could be clenching your teeth all night.
I know someone who had a year of misery, sick time, lots of investigations by neurology and nothing helped her headaches.
Then on a routine trip to the dentist she mentioned it. That resulted in a mouth guard to wear at night and no more headaches.

I just had this, it was because I'd increased my caffeine intake. Cut it right down again and they completely disappeared.
