TIA/ mini stroke - who to see for follow up?

I'm looking for some advice from anyone who might have been in a similar situation.

DH had a TIA that lasted about 3 minutes about 3 months ago and he had a follow-up at the local stroke clinic and all was fine. He's on blood thinners and aspirin now. He's now noticing that he is slightly more forgetful than he was pre-TIA and is also making mistakes at work. His work are, thankfully, being supportive and have suggested he look into what might be available to him to investigate this via the company private healthcare plan. This is where we run in to the problem. He needs a GP's referral for this, but our GP is a bit hopeless/laid back so DH would rather go in armed with a suggestion of who or what he should be referred to, if that makes sense??

So my question is - anyone been in this situation post-TIA and if so can you tell me what specialist, if any, you had a follow up with?

If the issue is memory then Memory Clinic.

Has he been to the GP? They can refer to the memory clinic in your area who will likely request a CT head.

Though a couple of years ago my dad had an episode at home that the GP put down to a UTI but said he would request a CT head but I don't think it ever happened and typically of my dad he never chased it 🙄

Is there a contact at the stroke clinic he could ask for advice? Assuming he attending a stroke clinic.

Would a neurologist be an option for referral?

He needs to be referred back to the stroke clinic. They'll have specialist stroke ots that can work with him on his memory and stuff like that. But he may never return to how he was before the stroke and his employer will have to make allowances for that

Having done further research today, there’s a neurologist specialising in strokes he can access locally via his private health plan so we’re going to try and get there.

Thereks been no follow up from his GP or the stroke clinic so we’re going to chase that up too.

Thanks, we’ll raise that with his GP.

His work are being very accommodating thankfully.
