toddler wanting to sleep after illness - normal?

Hi just looking for reassurance really. My ds has been poorly recently - high temperature, vomitting. Went to GP - all OK just an infection. However for the last few days he's not been his normal self - he goes to play with his toys and then 5 minutes later just wants to lie down. Basically he just wants to sleep - is this OK and how long can this go on for? Generally eating OK, although didn't want to be fussed with breakfast this morning.

Thanks

Totally normal, he needs time to recover. As long as he is drinking you really don't need to worry - let him sleep and you get some sleep too!!

sleeping is the bodies way of healing.

you think, a virus for us can knock us out for days, so imagine on a toddlers body.

if you are really concerned tho, take him to your GP in the morning.....may be a post-viral thing (altho not sure if toddlers would get them as they do rest..I am thinking they come mainly in people who don;t rest properly...??)

My DS was like this recently - he had a bad cold then a temperature bug for about a week, and it was another week of lying down drinking lots before he was really fit again! Luckily, toddlers don't feel guilty about lying on the couch getting everybody else to run around at their beck and call, so they recover fairly quickly.

I would give him a couple of days, and go back to GP if you're not happy at any stage, ie, he's anything more than a bit lethargic.

Very normal, my DD just had a very nasty stomach bug and it took almost a week for her to recover her strength, she was taking an extra 3 hour nap every day and had no energy!!
