Woke Ds up for swimming this morning, and noticed he had two red spots on his face, one on each cheek.

Have had another look and he has one slightly less red one on his ear and one looks like it is coming up on his nose. Non on his body at all though.

He has a slight temp and has done for about 2 days now.

Both dd's have had chicken pox, but that was about 5yrs ago so I have forgotten what I am looking for.

Oh, obviously, I won't be taking him swimming, chicken pox or not.

could be- any more anywhere else yet - are they little blisters -
Lots of chickenpox around at the moment, starts with generally unwell for a few days temp
Are the spots itchy??

madamez · 27/04/2008 11:00

It's chickenpox time of year, I think . If he's got a few spots now you will know for definite tomorrow, when he wil have a whole lot more if it's chickenpox.

CrackerOfNuts · 27/04/2008 11:53

I asked him if they were itchy and he then started scratching them LOL.

I don't think he has anymore as yet, so i'll just have to wait and see if he has more in the morning. My mum said she doesn't think it is chicken pox as the spots don't look like little blisters, but I am pretty sure dd1's spots didn't straight away, they just started off as red spots.

MY DS had this, i thought it was chicken pox,

one appeared on his leg too saturday and another on his leg sunday, i took him to the doctors monday and he had impetigo.

It could be chicken pox or something else.

Best to take him to the GP tomorrow so he can diagnose it properly.

I nearly went straight to the chemist to get chamomile lotion rather than the GP, glad I didn't, i was completely off!

CrackerOfNuts · 27/04/2008 11:58

Hmm I did wonder about impetigo, but dd1 had that a few weeks ago and it looks totally different to that.

It's doubtful I will be able to get him in at the docs tommorow, but i'll try.

Well when I google it those pics look nothing like DS impetigo. (DON'T ggole it... its awful!!)

DS2 had it aswell but he only had about 3 random spots on his face, whereas DS1 had alot with them clustered at points.

might just look different each case.

Disenchanted · 27/04/2008 12:02

Seems likely if your other child had it recently.

CrackerOfNuts · 27/04/2008 12:04

Dd had it over a month ago.

I am wondering if it just a reaction to a virus as last year he had urticari(sp?) all over his body but mainly on his face and gp said it was an allergic reaction to a virus. This looks similar to that.

Oh well, will see how he looks tonight and in the morning.

CP is all over dd1's pre-school atm. She seems to be immune to it so far (been exposed several times, but nothing...she's 4.5) but dd2 has been 'off' and had a temp of 38 last night, came down with Calpol. Am on the look out for spots....

itwasntme · 27/04/2008 14:01

Could well be, keep an eye out for more fluid-filled spots over next couple of days

CrackerOfNuts · 28/04/2008 22:06

Quick update - I put a bit of fucidin cream on ds's spots last night and this morning they had completely gone. He however has quite a bad cold, snotty nose, sore throat etc, so I think the posts were just a part of that.
