My pelvic floor is hopeless. Has anyone improved a bad situation with just exercises or did you buy a pelvic toner or something else. I just don't seem to have the discipline to do the exercises often enough.

you must all have fantastic pelvic floor muscles then and have no need to exercise

I definitely improved mine with exercises alone. I work as a physio and I can honestly say, EXERCISES DO WORK, but you HAVE to do them and be disciplined. I found it REALLY hard myself, even though they are the easiest exercises to do in that you can do them wherever you are and whatever position you are in, and no-one knows!!!

Why is your pelvic floor so crap??? How many kids?? How long ago??

blinkingthreetimes · 25/04/2008 20:56

Mines buggered

I keep forgetting to do the exercises which I am now regretting as I have a horrid cough this week and you can imagine the results

FrannyandZooey · 25/04/2008 20:56

LOL no everyone is just keeping quiet
mine has been dubious since bad forceps delivery
exercising it really helps, search for proper advice on how to do them and DO THEM
you should not need anything more drastic than that in most cases

goodcatholicgirl · 25/04/2008 20:57

To help you with motivation, do yourself a chart and record how long for example you can hold a contraction for (even if it's only 2-3 seconds or even less) and how many reps you can do. Do you have a proper set of exercises to do?? It might be worth asking your GP to refer you to your local physio dept, most have a 'womens health' physio who would be able to give you more tailored advice.

goodcatholicgirl · 25/04/2008 20:59

Sorry, I didn't finish what I was saying! Record what you can do then make a real effort to do the exercise and hopefully you will see from your chart how you are improving and that will be a good incentive for you. Use a clock or watch when you time, don't rely on just counting.

FrannyandZooey · 25/04/2008 21:00

start a thread on here and post when you have done them, to remind / motivate you
others will probably join you, plenty of slack alices on here

I have 4 children the youngest is 6. I really do need to get into a good routine to do them regularly. I bought some cones a while ago and used them in the shower but I am imagining horrible scenarios of children bursting in just as my muscles give up and out it drops!

where is pelvicfloornomore?

goodcatholicgirl · 25/04/2008 21:06

without wanting to sound rude, after 4 kids it's not suprsising they are crap, assuming you had normal deliveries?? Also, if your youngest is 6, that's at least 6 years of them being not so good, and 'IF YOU DON'T USE IT YOU LOSE IT' so you really MUST do your ex's. Use the cones, they are very good.

Hoonette · 25/04/2008 21:10

I will admit to having a rubbish pelvic floor.

Have one son, nearly one year old, and am four months pregnant with the next.

Really must get around to doing those exercises...

Ecmo · 25/04/2008 21:11
