I have always had a cat allergy, not too bad then got worse in my 20s

Since my 30s when PILs cats died I haven't had much exposure to them but I have had a dog for 7 years

DD so wants a cat
When I am at Sophable's I haven't had a prob with her kitten

So I got an allergy test and it says I am not allergic

Is that poss?

My mother's allergy went away, I don't knowthe particulars. But it was never very severe.
Do you have friends with cats you could visit, see if you react?

don't know if it's possible, but I'm not as allergic as I was twenty years ago- I live quite happily with the cat that came with dh. She isn't allowed on beds or on my knee, and I always wash my hands after handling her if I have to. I would get a kitten of the same breed/ litter as Sophable's and you should be OK.

I'm not sure about the test, but we got a kitten a few months ago and it turned out DH was allergic (as well as being asthmatic), and DS1 who suffers from hayfever also got all congested in his head. But the dc were already attached to the kitten. So after doing some research, I bought a HEPA air purifier on ebay and it's worked great -- DH has been fine. HTH
