Help! Nothing is working. I've tried lying her between my legs, putting them in teddy's eyes first, waiting till she's distracted with something else and holding her in my arms with her head slightly back. Whatever I do, she wriggles out of my grip before i can get them in. I am just squirting the stuff all over in a vain attempt to get some into her eye. What else can I do?

Advice much appreciated.

Whenever dd (2.1) needs eye drops we lie her down on the bed then one of us has to hold her down while the other puts the drops in. its not nice doing it but it?s the only way to get them into her eyes. She has regular checks at the hospital which require the doctors to put drops in and they do it the same way. Another way is to lie her down in her pushchair so she cant escape (it takes a lot longer this way though)

its def a two person job i'm afraid. i had to get dh to hold dd's arms down with one arm, whilst i tried to get the jobs in her eye.

dont make a big deal of it, dont tell her you are going to do it, scoop, hold and put them in is the way we get it done.

It is possible single handed but a bit tricky! Kneel over her (obviously without any of your weight on her) but so that she is trapped, So that only her head is in front of you, and her hands to push you away are trapped firmly under your body. You then have both hands free, one to try and hold her head still (ish) and the other to do the drops! Does that make sense?

We've had drops many times and at 3 times a day, you don't always have someone there to assist! After a few times, she'll get used to it hopefully and it'll be less traumatic.
