That's a pretty low temp, so yes I would keep her warm.

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 25/04/2008 15:50

Are you sure it's 35.1? That sounds worryingly low to me.

J2O · 25/04/2008 15:53

yes definately, does it? i'm quite low myself, it may be my themomator?

i'm 36.4 with the same thermomator

Has she been seen by a doctor? If not, she should be asap. A low temp in a baby with an infection is serious. If you are unsure about your thermometer, can you take her to surgery to get it checked, or borrow one from a friend/neighbour?

3littlefrogs · 25/04/2008 15:56

If you are 36.4 and she is 35.1 you need to get her seen now.

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 25/04/2008 15:57

It depends what her normal temp is I guess, but my DC's average around 36.3.

avenanap · 25/04/2008 15:58

36.4 is a normal temp, anything up to about 37.4 is fine. I would take her to the doctors with a temp of 35.1. That's too low.

J2O · 25/04/2008 15:58

she saw doc this morning who diagnosed her with a throat infection like i had, but he didnt take her temp and he wouldn't give her abs either

have just done dd1 age 8 she's 35.8 on the thermomator

Ring NHS Direct?

If you're worried I'd take her straight to A&E (which is exactly what the GP would tell you to do if there was a problem)

J2O · 25/04/2008 16:02

i've had her wrapped up and now her temp 35.8 is she's sweating a hell of a lot, i can feel the heat coming off her as soon as i go near her

It sounds like the thermometer is not working, for whatever reason. what sort is it and how are you taking the temp - ie underarm, and for how long? In any case though, your Lo's temp is lower than yours or your dd's so I would still get her seen.
Normal is 37, so if you adjust proportionately, her temp is still below normal.

ScaryHairy · 25/04/2008 16:08

I think the thermometer sounds broken.

If you put your forehead against hers does she feel hotter than you? If so, don't wrap her up. If she feels very hot then take her back to the GP.

J2O · 25/04/2008 16:10

underarm and it bleeps when its finished, you're right, it isn't high enough in propoertin, i am going to feed her and see how she is, if her temp hasn't improved on my stupid broken thermomator i will ring NHS direct, thanks everyone

I agree thermometer sounds wrong.

I'd advise you invest in one you put in the ear. They are quite expensive but so reliable.
