What is a normal temperature for an adult?

Can anyone tell me what a normal temperature is for an adult? I have taken my temperature via my ear and its come out anywhere 37.4 - 37.8 today. I have read 37 is normal, I normally sub 37 on a 'normal' day so anything above 37 feels like it might be peaking somewhat.

I finished a 5 day course of antibiotics (amoxicillin) yesterday for a suspected chest and throat infection. After a few days of feeling like my temperature was under control it seems to be spiking again. I'm loathed to take up a GP appointment again as I had two last week - first one to get checked where they gave me antibiotics (the Dr was quite stand offish and I felt like I was wasting their time even though I was genuinely unwell and clearly needed the medicine) and then second with a Pharmacist as I had a reaction to said antibiotics. Drinking plenty, not really eating as not much appetite and I was given the antibiotics at my appointment last Tuesday late afternoon. Any advice (apart from take paracetamol as I am about to do that!)?

I'm like you. My day to day temp hovers somewhere around "nearly dead" so when I'm actually ill it's only about 37.9/38.3 type numbers.

You can track your body temp and record it in an app like Clue which helps prove to healthcare providers that you're not a lunatic when you're trying to tell them you feel like death but your temp is only "slightly raised".

I've the same issue with blood pressure and heart rate.

Maybe I am actually just nearly dead?

I have had my temperature taken at least twice a day since June and it is always 36. something. 36.2 is the most frequent. According to the HCPs 36. something is spot on.

It varies - I can be over 38 and healthy.

If you feel unwell go by that.

@ObliviousCoalmine you have made me smile with "maybe I am actually just nearly dead?", feel like I am right there with you, no idea if I am coming or going! thank you for the smile, I needed it!!! Last week when I felt absolutely dreadful (and almost unable to sit up in the GP surgery) my temperature was 37.6 and it took a debate with the Dr to prove that was not normal for me and he looked at me like I was a lunatic faking it.......and then pedalled out what 'normal temperature' can be including 37.6. The same Dr who I asked not to shove a wooden stick down my throat to check it as it would make me heave and I didn't need to feel any worse, who then proceeded to stick said wooden stick down my throat and sure enough I heaved!😂

I also have the same with blood pressure too, mine is super low, always has been and every time they do it I get the Spanish inquisition as to whether I feel ok, am I dizzy etc etc etc. They then look at me like I am a lunatic and like I should be dead or spinning with such low blood pressure!

@Msmoonpie very true, very valid point. I feel like someone who is coming through a chest/throat infection. A lot better than last week, today I am upright, dressed and have done a day of work at home. Last week I was in bed, feeling like utter crap, unable to get up and get dressed, let alone work. I think I need to realise after vapid, strong antibiotics that made me feel even worse and being really unwell and in bed for almost 5 days straight this is going to take a little time to recover from.
