How to heal burn (sorry, gross content)

Eminybob · 27/10/2024 05:39

I burnt my boob with a garment steamer. Don't ask how, it was really stupid. But no I wasn't trying to steam something while wearing it.

Anyway, it blistered, then burst and now won't heal as if I don't dress it it sticks to my bra and the layer of what would be scab comes off, or yesterday I had a plaster on it but when I took it off it left a layer of pus on the plaster and the burn was bleeding a lot. I think I probably need to get the air to it to allow it to scab but it's my boob so that's not really an option. Even in bed with moving about it knocks the scab off.

I also got my stomach a bit but for some reason that seems to be healing better.

Help please!

Hydrocoloid plasters are good for burns. You stick them on and leave them. The plaster is moist and the new skin forms underneath. If it's a large area though maybe seek medical advice because it might need some more intervention to heal.

Thanks I'll have a look. It's only relatively small I don't think I need to see anyone.

Oh god that sounds painful OP. I second the hydrocoloid plasters but try let it breathe at night. Do you have any savlon? Can you pop it round the (non open) wound? If it doesn’t start to show signs of healing within a few days I’d take this one to minor injuries, burns are very painful and can get infected quick. I hope it heals soon!

It doesn't actually hurt surprisingly. I don't seem to have a lot of sensation in that area generally (TMI)

Biafine cream is amazing for burns- also for sunburn, radiation treatment and ulcers, post laser etc. You can get it from amazon

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 27/10/2024 06:07

You definitely need to see someone, burns are serious wounds and without a proper dressing on it you risk infection and scarring.

Try and get an appointment with a practice nurse or pop in to a minor injuries place.

It doesn't hurt because it's a full thickness burn, please seek medical attention.

But it's only small, about the size of a 10p

Could you take a photo ( or get someone else if difficult ) and go to a pharmacist and show them if you don't want to actually show them your boob ?

Polgara2 · 27/10/2024 06:09

I also swear by Savlon on burns, always, always takes the pain away. Slather loads on though

Bestyearever2024 · 27/10/2024 06:11

I use acriflex cream and or diluted (in boiled water) lavender essential oil

Eminybob · 27/10/2024 06:11

I'll pop into a pharmacy today. Thanks.

As wonderingwanda said, a hydrocolloid dressing is your best bet. If it’s small enough one of the larger compeed blister dressings might be big enough. Otherwise you can ask the pharmacist for an appropriate one.

CottonbudQueen · 27/10/2024 08:37

Aloe Vera gel is magic for burns

BatFaceGiirll · 28/10/2024 19:50

Please don't put any oils / lotions/ gels / savlon / or any other suggested remedies on it

You need to get it looked at if it's behaving as you say and get proper advice from a health care professional

HazeyjaneIII · 28/10/2024 20:06

As others have said... please don't put any creams, oils or lotions on it.
You need to get it looked at and properly dressed.. otherwise you risk infection and scarring (this happened to me on my arm from a relatively small burn)
