Any idea what's wrong?

I was wondering if anyone can help and relate to any of these symptoms:

Exhausted/lethargic all day. I may feel better for a couple of hours or so in the evening

  • bad brain fog
  • waking early (5 - 5:30am) often with urgefor a bowel movement. Will need to go 2-3 times in the morning. General gut health doesn't feel great
  • occasional muscle twitches
  • Leg aches and joint aches
  • back ache and tension in shoulders

I currently take iron (due to previous blood test result), b12, vitamin d and sertraline daily. I have been told I have some antibodies for underactive thyroid but thyroid levels and function tests all came back normal.

Has anyone else felt like this and managed to find out what was wrong and most importantly get better? What further tests can I ask for? Dr's aren't particularly interested as symptoms are vague but i wonder if it would help if I knew what to ask for?
I'm so fed up with feeling like shit

I think I'm going to go back to my GP and request all bloods including full thyroid function to be redone.
I've gone over my results from a couple of years ago when I first went about my symptoms. After some googling and reading other MN posts about similar these results are standing out to me and seem very low 🫤

Folate level 5.1 ug/l
Serum ferritin 6.4 ng/ml

I've been on ferrous fumarate since but made no difference to how I'm feeling.
Dr's are very keen to fob you off but how can it be ok or acceptable to feel this shit

The bloods were taken in the morning, around 10am perhaps?
When I saw the consultant about the lump he mentioned about the antibodies but he wasn't concerned as my result was only just out of range and he sees people with results in triple figures 🫤

Other people's results are irrelevant to you. Consultant should be minimising your results.

You have over range antibodies which indicates autoimmune thyroid disease. What will be throwing him off is your 'normal' TSH result which indicates an element of central hypothyroidism. Drs think it's rare but it's just wildly undiagnosed.

Keep an eye on your thyroid. Get a private test done if you can to see what your T3 is like.

Would also recommend going to the thyroid board on healthlocked.com. they saved my life on that board.

Best of luck.

FERRITIN OF 6.4!!

Jesus. That's total negligence on your GPs part, oral iron is unlikely to raise your ferritin quickly. Transfusion should have been offered.

Anything below 30 is total depletion of ferritin according to the NICE guidelines.

VermillionGreen · 27/10/2024 10:19

Woah, that ferritin is crazily low!

Thank you all for your comments. Feeling quite angry actually that the drs think this is acceptable. But I will go back and ask for new blood tests to be done, considering my results from last time and how I'm still feeling no better (worse if anything)
