Hi! On Thursday I was on a school trip with the kids and we were outdoors for a woodland walk for part of it. Friday morning i noticed 3 bites, 2 on one leg one on the other. They were itchy but I tried not to touch them. They were bright red and itchy. The one on the back of my calf got bigger, bright red with an extended lighter pink area all around it too. I treated them with corticosteroid cream over the weekend. Today, the on one the back of my leg now looks bruised in places. Stand longer itchy and no longer hot. Not sore. Just don't know whether to be concerned or not? These pics are of all 3 bites from today when they've gone more purple, wish I'd taken pics of them initially.

Yes it would bother me! It's a bit bullseye ish, isn't it?

If youmdont want to bother a GP yet, you could go to a pharmacy First thing, as they cover insect bites.

You could go this evening maybe, or contact GP tomorrow?

I'll go to pharmacist now. It looks bullseyeish now the bruise has formed.. dnt know of coincidental. Just thought I haven't seen any pics on me and all 3 bites arrived at same time so wasn't really worried until now. Plus they were itchy and I didn't think tick bites were but dnt know for sure.

tick bites can be itchy after the tick has been on there a day or so. Not like a mosquito would be, but in an irritated sort of way. Ticks can be so tiny.

Ah OK well these bites appeared the morning after the walk. I'm a worrier so am panicking even though I think it's probably not

The pharmacist just googled lyme disease and said go back to dr, so I will tomorrow. In the meantime my anxiety is through the roof arch I'm my own worst enemy!

Ahh, don't worry.

Just make sure you push for an appointment and consider a walk in clinic if the GP can't see you.
Take pics, and make sure you mention all your points ie walk in woodland / bite / red / itchy / rash / spreading etc. Write them down if you think you'll forget.

Imperrysmum · 21/10/2024 17:54

Hmmm they don’t entirely look like tick bites to me, but to be on the safe side you could push for a 21 day doxycycline course this will then eliminate any worry. The key with lyme disease is treating it early, within the first few days ideally otherwise it can be a buggar to treat.

I'm actually on a 10 day course of phenoxymethylpenicillin at the moment, I had awful chills/fatigue Thursday eve (after walk) and Friday and discovered inflamed red tonsils with white spots so was given them for suspected tonsillitis. Wonder if they'd do the trick
