Is there such a thing as a dental plan where you can pay a set amount each month for the whole family?

We all desperately need to start seeing a dentist regularly. There are no NHS dentists around here (Central London). I was wodering if there was such a thing as a dental plan where you pay a set amount per month (sort of like health insurance) and then you can get your teeth cleaned, have fillings etc included.

Does anyone know of such a thing? And can anyone recommend a good dentist who near Baker Street?

Yes there is, however all dental plans will require you to be dentally fit before you go on them. This means that you have to have all work needed completed before you can be given a quote for the monthly cost and then sign up to the plan. So you'd have to register with a dentist first and have any work done and pay for it, I'm afraid (am a dental receptionist)

The HSA dental plan is good - you pay per month irrespective of dental state, and then get 100% of checkups and hygienist costs, and 75% of treatment - more details here

DH & I have Denplan - we both have average to mediocre teeth and ours is just over £30 a month. Everything is covered except lab costs for eg crowns and dentures.

Our dentists treated the kids under the NHS up to the age of 18 even though it is a private practice otherwise.

Thanks everyone. We do not need any work done at the moment so are dentally sound. Bu the kids desperately need check ups (one of mine has never been to a dentist) and we all need our teeth cleaned. My husband just had a check up with a dentist near his work, but they are mega expensive and don't do any dental plan.

There are 2 dentists in W1 who offer plans for children as well. No idea how much that would be though.

I found an NHS dentist in central London - Esthetique in Cleveland St (between Oxford Circ and Goodge St).

We looked into dental plans at work and they were really poor value. Paid out for checkups which aren't that expensive anyway but treatment was only paid up to 30% which is nothing. Sounds like the HSA one is better.

Denplan includes everything except lab work, margo.

I am with Hospital Saturday Fund, which is a not-for-profit, and your monthly charge covers spouse and dependents.

It is not solely dental though. Covers optical, hospital admissions, birth, etc.

Works out very well for me.
