Breast 'lump'

Felt what I thought was a lump in my left breast over the weekend feels kind of gristly

For appt with Dr she was lovely this morning she could feel it but said it wasn't a lump. It wasn't hard she said it felt like fibrous tissue like you'd get on raw chicken but she could feel it and agreed it was different from the right breast.

im mid cycle so she said she'd see me again in four weeks and if it's still there she would refer me. Then I asked a few more questions about how it felt and she said she would refer me today to breast clinic but they wouldn't accept it as a 2 week referral as it wasn't a lumps so she said probably be around 6 weeks

does that sound fair enough I left feeling happy now I'm overthinking

It depends whether this is normal practice for your GP's surgery and also how long the pathway referral waiting list at the hospital is (the target of 2 weeks is often missed these days). If it's nothing then it won't matter how long you have to wait, if it's sinister then you might regret the delay. Perhaps sleep on it and chase the appt if it gives you peace of mind?

I'd have good faith in your doctor tbh, they know what they are feeling for.
I had a lump, Dr said she wasn't concerned but as it was there she referred me on the 2 week pathway as it's protocol. Dr was right, it was breast tissue, probably from breastfeeding as it was my main feeding boob.
However...she has said yours isn't a lump, so I'd take that as reassurance.

She said that the hospital would downgrade it from red flag as it wasn't a lump.

I have lost over a stone recently (intentional) so she thinks that may also be a reason why I can feel it more. She said she can feel it on the other breast but it's more prominent on the left breast

Hi, I had some fibrous tissue in my breast that became more prominent after losing weight. My GP told me that any breast changes warrant a 2 week referral and I was seen after 10 days. It was all fine and just normal tissue. I’m surprised by your GP to be honest as a lump can be a variety of different shapes and textures all of which need investigating. I’d push to be seen quicker although am sure it’s likely nothing.

I rang the hospital and she has put it through as urgent here in NI they said because they have brought in a new computer system there's a hold up so will be end of nov before I am seen...
the same GP put in an urgent referral for gynae for me in March and I chased that up while on to the hospital and was told she had put it in as urgent but the hospital downgraded it to routine and it's a two year wait list (I have already went private for that) our health care here atm is shocking
