Propranolol not helping almost constant palpitations

Posting again about my sodding palpitations because I'm at my wits end with them. I have 10mg propranolol to take as and when needed but it is doing absolutely nothing to help them. They will not stop. I'm having them pretty much every minute of the day. I've been to A&E with them recently they are than bad. Unfortunately I typically didn't have any at the time of the ecg so they have referred for 24hr monitor. They are relentless though and I'm very worried. Is there anything else that could help? I've bought iron, magnesium etc to take to try and help them but I understand these things take time. I just want my heart to beat normally again :(

You can have ablation for paroxysmal afib. It’s day surgery.

Thanks everyone, it's still a challenge getting used to the meds. Still only on propranolol at the moment and while it's not as bad as bisoprolol it's still hard to function properly. I was only on 1.25 bisoprolol, I think I may have some sort of metabolism issue or something as it really knocked me for six. Going to book in with gp again and see what options I have. Gp and a dr at A&E have seen my Afib Kardia readings now and agree it looks like afib. I'm quite shocked tbh, did not expect this at 40.

Are you sure you've given the bisoprolol long enough?

This has worked wonders for me - I divide my dose 1.25mg AM and 2.5mg evening so it works overnight. I get the odd breakthrough ectopic but it's really helped.

@wineandsunshine bisoprolol worked but I was in bed or on the sofa pretty much all day feeling awful. Same thing has happened to me today after trying to increase my dose of propranolol. Can't seem to tolerate them at all. Will have to chat to gp again.

It takes about 4 weeks to get through the adjustment phase to beta blockers, but for some the side effects are too much to get through the 4 weeks.

I second the PP suggestion of flecainide as a non betablocker option, and also if you have type 2 diabetes dapagliflozin is showing good efficacy
