Perfusion indicator oxygen monitor

I bought an oxygen monitor as I often feel crashing fatigue especially after exercise. The oxygen level seems fine but the PI% hovers around 2.5 which is apparently low. Should I worry about this and could it be causing the fatigue. I have had blood tests and an ecg and been sent away by doctors in the past. I also cough every day probably just once or twice but has been going on for ages. I should probably just go back to the docs but I feel like a twit!

It’s not a terribly useful measurement. Even if it was yours is normal. I’d stop wasting money on gimmicky tech.

Oh really, I thought they were generally considered quite accurate.

It’s probably accurate…but it’s a pretty useless parameter to measure.

I don't want to appear rude but do you have medical knowledge that it's a useless parameter or just a lay person with an opinion please?

Yes I’m a doctor. It may have a smidge of value in tracking the response to an intervention in the context of critical care/anaesthesia (but it doesn’t really tell you much you can’t see with eyes/standard monitoring) but it isn’t going to be useful as an occasional reading in the walking well (other than perhaps if sats and PI were low it might suggest the sats aren’t accurate).
