DF (mid 70s) has had a heart attack following admission to hospital for another issue. He’s had angina for a while, and we knew his arteries etc weren’t in good shape prior to this. They’ve told us that they can’t do surgery to fit stent/bypass etc as they are in too poor a shape, so they’ve basically said if he deteriorates, there isn’t much they can do. They are treating him for multiple other conditions as well which makes it difficult. He’s on oxygen due to fluid in his lungs following the heart attack which is making things difficult, but he’s also sitting up in bed eating and drinking, chatting away.
I know there is no clear answer to this, but has anyone been in the same position? How did things go?
They seem to be able to do so much with heart attacks now but without surgery, I have no idea how feasible any form of recovery might be.
