I'm going to write all the symptoms I've been suffering with daily for over a year now. I've had bloods done about three months ago and I was low on folic acid which I'm now nearly finished a course of 5mg tabs a day. I had an echocardiogram last December which came back fine. I can't cope with this anymore. It's actually scaring me now. I'm calling the doctor again tomorrow and will probably be fobbed off again. I just want to feel normal again. I'm trying to look after my severely autistic son full time and I'm finding it hard because I feel so unwell

Completely spaced out.. not with it at all
Face keeps going numb
Throbbing head
Blurred vision/even with glasses
Thumping heart beat
Feeling faint
Feeling very weak
Inside body tremors
Slurring my speech
Dribbling when trying to talk.
No energy at all
Extreme tiredness
Can hear whooshing in my ears
Dizziness severe
Can’t focus/memory loss
Breathless
Legs giving way (no strength)
No Appetite recently
Stomach cramps/dioraha
NOT ANXIETY!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE.. I spoke to the doctor and he wants to see me tomorrow to do a neurological assessment. He is getting my bloods checked again. That's all so far but it's a step in the right direction.

That's good. At least they are trying to get to the bottom of it.

Thank you all so much for your replies and suggestions of what it may or may not be.
To answer some questions..
I don't drink alcohol at all, and haven't done so in just over two years.
I don't smoke or touch drugs. I suffered bad anxiety/panic disorder a few years ago, but this is definitely different.
My vitamin D levels were very high when I had my last set of bloods and was told to stop taking my 10.000ug daily dose straight away. That was 6 months ago.
I was buying them from the British supplement website because I hardly leave the house due to around the clock care for my child. I was getting no sunlight.
I just want to feel better because I'm struggling to give my child the care he needs while I feel so unwell.
Plus I'm getting the worst mum guilt in the whole world 😢
Thank you again ladies x

On another thread you said you smoked cannabis daily for 15 years. Even if you don't touch drugs now, that's a very long period of time, and could easily have affected neurological function. Please, please tell your GP - they won't judge you, they just need a complete picture to work out what the problem is.

cassiefromlondon · 07/10/2024 18:31

@KvotheTheBloodless thank you. My GP has always known of my cannabis use in the past. Although I wasn't a heavy smoker like the other posts partner, it was only one joint very early hours of each morning over a long period of time. I used it to get to sleep because I worked in night clubs at night and had to try and sleep in the day which I found difficult when it was getting light outside.
I will bring it up again but it is on their system

If you only used it to fall asleep have you now had a sleep study in the last 6 months? You shouldn't have needed it to be able to fall asleep unless at that time you were suffering with ptsd / anxiety....

cassiefromlondon · 07/10/2024 19:14

@Secradonugh did you read my post about working nights? I'd been around very loud music all night. Bright flashing club lights all night, then coming home and trying to sleep in the day was difficult.
I've got no other reasons so please don't try and put words in my mouth

Yes I did and I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth. I worked on ambulances in and out of a and e on night shift which could, i guess, be quite similar and had a ssimilarsounding issue. I didn't take pot. I took sleeping tablets which were hiding the underlying cause. Not until the sleep study which showed I was failing to sleep but not naturally performing full sleep cycles did it then take my consultant down a different path.
I am in no way trying to say you taking pot was a bad thing but am wondering if you self medicated like I did, and it's hiding a sleep issue. I had the sleep study some years after getting a 9 to 5, because I was always tired.

Hi OP,

Glad your GP is going to investigate further for you. I had some similar symptoms about a year ago. Turned out to be a mixture of severe anxiety, hormonal imbalance and covid. It was such a scary time so I really feel for you.
Mine started with me fainting at home and went from there. After that my anxiety spiralled, the more I focused on symptoms and googled them the worse it got. I ended up with heart palpitations, chest pain, twitching all over, terrible muscle and joint pain, migraines, dizziness, sciatica flared and my whole leg went completely numb. I started having panic attacks, even at night where I would wake up gasping for air.
I ended up spending two days in hospital for cardiac testing (family history), having all my bloods done, antibiotics for possible infection. It definitely helped that my GP was so supportive and the reassurance at checking all the physical symptoms. In the end when all checked out OK it was talk therapy and time that worked to settle everything.
Hope you feel better soon xx

@Secradonugh I do apologise for snapping. I'm not proud of myself for turning to cannabis to help me sleep. I'm actually utterly ashamed of myself for self medicating in that way.
It was just easy to get hold of in the industry I was working in at the time.
Hand on heart I've never taken any other drugs in my life. I did struggle to sleep and still do now. It can still sometimes take me two to three hours to fall asleep.
I will take on board what you said and mention my sleeping pattern to the GP tomorrow.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.
I've had a lot of lovely ladies giving me suggestions and I do appreciate it

@Val1985 it's all so scary isn't it. I'm so glad you were okay.
I'm actually hoping it is anxiety and nothing more sinister.
I've been told it's "just" anxiety by family for a year now and it frustrates me because the physical symptoms are very real.
Thank you for your reply to my post xx

@cassiefromlondon I think it makes it harder when people keep telling you that when you're genuinely so worried. I was relieved in the end when it was anxiety - not that it's easy to deal with either but I'll take it!
Another thank that massively helped me was acupuncture. It's not for everyone but covid caused inflammation throughout my system that made everything worse. Acupuncture helped to rebalance me and my hormones.

No problems whatsoever. Without us talking face to face it's hard to understand if someone is being an uptight arse or not and given that some other posters seemed to have a problem just because it's pot, which is daft. I probably could have explained myswlf better. Also there are scientific peer reviewed papers showing pot does successfully treat insomnia in the same manor as sleeping tablets but in a more 'working with' the brain way rather than the blunter sleeping tablets. Good luck with tomorrow

I have supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). So my heart will be beating normally at about 70 BPM. It will suddenly start beating at 180bpm and then go back to 70 after a few minutes. I also have low blood . The STV lowers the blood pressure even more which causes a lot of the symptoms. They put me on a 24 hour blood pressure monitor and 24 hour ECG to find these issues.

@2Little Thank you Smile

I have all those symptoms - after ten years of being fobbed off and told it was anxiety, I was ventually diagnoised with chronic vestibular migraine, peripheral vestibular dysfunction, and an autoimmune condition (ulcerative colitis, in my case). I do have crippling anxiety and depression on top now, but only because I have felt so utterly bloody awful with terrifying symptoms for years and was not believed.

I think people forget that living with these conditions will cause anxiety and depression, especially when undiagnosed! My world has shrunk down when I’ve been ill so therefore I slide into depression.

I had a list of symptoms a few years ago, the main ones being that I found a few times a week that I was gasping for air, unable to yawn (sounds silly but not being able to breathe properly does that! It’s very frustrating!) and my lips would get a blue tinge. I ended up in A&E as it got very bad one night. The doctor rubbished off everything I said and was determined it was a panic attack. He said - there must be something you are anxious about. I replied - yes there is, I’m anxious because I can’t breathe.

We’d just got cats. Turned out I was mildly asthmatic and allergic to them. Thorough investigation by my GP after the fact. Cat is dead now. No more wheezing. The first thing my gp asked was whether I had pets.

I had similar. Even after the consultant made it clear in his letter "I can see something on the tests but I'm unsure what". But I was still told it was anxiety even though physical exercise made it worse. I was also that everyone coughs when they spray deodorant and similar.

3 years later and various tests later, I was told it was asthma.

Dayfurrrrit · 08/10/2024 15:02

probably already said but temporal lobe seizures. This is by no means me diagnosing you but these type of seizures can present with very bizzare symptoms. Worth considering.

DrCoconut · 08/10/2024 15:12

B12 deficiency or B6 too high/low can cause this type of thing. My B6 runs very high and I feel scarily out of sorts when it does. You're not coeliac are you? Just with you mentioning bowel issues. Undiagnosed it can cause all sorts of problems.

bobster31 · 08/10/2024 18:04

FND? Symptoms vary for each person. Very difficult to diagnose, no treatment or cure unfortunately. See if you can be referred to a neurologist but be prepared to be fobbed off!

farmergirl15 · 08/10/2024 18:05

I had very similar symptoms, started with taking folic acid and iron, then about a year later was diagnosed with T2D

Nanny1965 · 08/10/2024 18:17

Do you drink herbal tea? A friend of mine had some of these symptoms. Turns out it was hibiscus in the teas.
