Dd2 came out of school saying that she'd hurt her arm. When I looked she had a blood red flat spot on her lower arm, and then the area around the spot was faintly red aswell.

She said it itches and is a bit sore.

I asked her if she felt anything bite her and she can't remember.

It isn't like any bite mark I have ever had or seen.

i dont know sounds more like a sting

CrackerOfNuts · 22/04/2008 19:42

Yes i thought that, but she said she didn't feel anything.

I put savlon on it because dd is one of these that has to have something put on it even if it needs nothing LOL.

I do have some after bite stuff but it stings.

Tick?

Not sure from the description.

CrackerOfNuts · 22/04/2008 19:47

Ohhh why zippi ??

Have added pic to profile. The red is a bit darker than it shows up in the photo.

could be a skin thing maybe

CrackerOfNuts · 05/05/2008 16:28

Bumping this again as need more advice.

A couple of days after the bite, the dark red mark started to fade, but then you could clearly see a red patch around it. I drew around the rash so I would know if it spread, and it didn't, infact it started to shrink and had almost dissapeared.

However, now, over a week later, where the original red spot was, there is now a little lump and hard skin. Almost like the skin has been pinched between someones nails. It isn't red but very itchy.

I am confused, and dd is not happy that I can't get rid of it.

Pic on profile is of the bite the day she got it.

Anyone ??

I did wonder about Lymes disease for a while but looking at pics of the rash, it isn't the same, although the description of the rash on NHS direct is similar.

I might just chop her arm off then, sound good ?

I would see the GP asap. I've seen the picture on profile and the possibility of this being a tick bite cannot be ruled out.

CrackerOfNuts · 05/05/2008 17:07

Oh really ...crap.

Will take a pic of what it looks like now if I can get camera to work.

OP posts:
CrackerOfNuts · 05/05/2008 17:08

It doesn't look like that pic now, thats why I am confused.

Just looking for new batteries for the camera.

Right, I have put another pic of bite on profile. In the pic it looks as though her arm is red, but it isn't, I think that is just from the flash.

Apart from the bite she is perfectly fine, no other symptoms of anything.

Allergic reactions to bites can and do fade but it needs looking at by the GP in any event.

BTW if your daughter had been bitten by a tick she would not have realised at the time.
