Cat allergies - is there something that you can do about them? A series of injections I seem to remember...

DD is so desperate for a cat
I am allergic (or was)
Recently i have had cat contact with no probs

I have ordered a test to see if I am still allergic. If I am, is there anyting I can do?

I have a cat and found out about 4 yrs ago I also have a cat allergy(amongst loads of others *sigh)

Dunno if theres anything you can actually do about,I've not heard about injections anyway.

If you decide to get a cat-obviously get a short hair one,I DO NOT let my cat sleep on my bed or sofa and I have to hoover most days,I've also got no carpets so the hairs aren't stuck everywhere and if you still get itchy and sneezy-piriton tabs help.

See if you can get more cat contact before you take the leap in getting one

my vet friend told me about a spray you can get apparently its the saliva, that is the problem, and when they groom themselves that passes onto their fur, maybe google it

I have heard Devon Rex cats (short, curly fur) are less likely to irritate people with allergies. But I can't vouch for its accuracy.

My husband was very allergic as a child and teenager but, after a short period of acclimatisation, was fine with our two moggies (and one was quite fluffy).

Now, he is fine with any cat, so it does seem it is possible to outgrow an allergy.

Could you visit a cat household before getting one?
