Mesenteric Adenitis in 10 year old? Advice please

My daughter was diagnosed with a UTI two weeks ago. 3 days of antibiotics cleared up the infection but she's been left with Mesenteric Adenitis which is apparently abdominal lymph node swelling. Its on her right side and she's been in and out of hospital as it mimics appendicitis. They did ultrasound, MRI, blood tests, urine tests - no signs of infection, abdomen looks fine, kidneys all ok etc.

They told us it was really painful but it should start to settle down and just told her to take paracetemols and ibuprofen. Her pain was about 5.5 out of 10. We've been back and forward to docs and hospitals as she is not improving.

Cut to today, two weeks on, she's burping up mouthfuls of sick and her pain has crept up to a 6. Shes walking around with her hand clamped to her side.

We are going back to doctors - I just wondered if anybody has experience of this and if its normal to take this long and if anybody knew of a way to help her. This is horrendous and I now feel like I'm annoying doctors and getting in the way.

Hi,
i just read your post and wondered if you got to the bottom of you daughter’s MA episode? My daughter has just been diagnosed. We are in our second week and her pain is still very bad. Did your daughter’s illness progress further or subside?
kind regards

She was really poorly for about 10 weeks. I was very worried as the pain wasn’t subsiding and she must have held her side for 8 weeks solid but it gradually faded. We had to keep pain killers up constantly.

Oh dear, that’s awful. Bless her. My daughter is currently in her second week and she’s still guarding her right side. It is worse at night. By day, she’s unable to focus on anything for too long. Thank you for replying.

DD had it a couple of times and then on the last bout they took out her appendix and we have had no recurrence. I know it shouldn’t make a difference, but it did. They took it out as the ultrasonography said it looked abnormal though the surgeon said to him it looked normal.

That’s interesting. I am still wondering about her appendix. They could not rule it out as MA mimics appendicitis. Thank you
