Help with my foot please

I have possibly tried everything including scholl verruca. I asked GP but she wasn't very helpful and asked me to just dip my foot in warm water everyday and it's becoming a pain.

It's on my heel and GP confirmed it's a verruca. How do I get rid of it ? It's impacting my walking and also hurting while driving.

Help!

Doesn't look like a verruca to me but more like a callus or even a corn. You need to see a podiatrist.

Posted too early, sorry.

Until you can see one I'd be using a really good moisturizer as often as possible to soften the hard skin. https://okeeffesco.co.uk/products/okeeffes-healthy-feet/ is excellent (I used the one in the pot!) You need a specific foot cream though because it'll have things in designed for softening thick dry skin which you have. Give your feet a good coating and pop some socks on before bed.

Thanks @QuestionableMouse before u knew it was verruca I did apply Vaseline for a prolonged period of time twice a day and put socks on (in summer) made me sooo hot. But I would give it a try again.

It's been there for 6 months now. And really painful at times.

Podiatrist will sort this.

TherealmrsT · 03/10/2024 11:20

I had a big clutch of Verrucas as a student and the friendly chiropodist told me to give them a rub with a pumice stone to take off the hard skin, but not to make them sore/bleed every time I had a bath (shower I suppose these days) and I would shift them as quickly as he could. It worked although it took a while.

Footproblem · 03/10/2024 16:01

Thanks all. Do you know if NHS will cover this with podiatrist or do I have to go private ?

I'll also get a pumice stone to see if it helps.

It's worth asking your GP for a referral but I don't think appointments are too expensive (I paid £25 a couple of years ago)

Vaseline really isn't good for this sort of thing - you need a product with urea or similar in it to break down the thick hard skin.

ThoseDarnCrows · 03/10/2024 17:00

That looks like a callous to me, probably caused by your footwear rubbing or applying pressure to your foot.
See a podiatrist to remove the worst of it, then begin your own foot care routine.

The NHS practically did away with appointments for this 20 years ago, so private is the way to go. Here in North Yorks it costs around £35.00 per visit.

ForPearlViper · 03/10/2024 17:01

You can self refer to an NHS podiatrist in some areas by filling in a form but I doubt they'd look at this unless you are diabetic. Private podiatrists aren't that expensive to see though.

You could try the pharmacist first though.

QuestionableMouse · 03/10/2024 17:11

Honestly if it was my foot I'd be at it with a corn knife! It's sore because it's creating a pressure point under the hard stuff- get rid of that and you'll feel so much better!

Footproblem · 04/10/2024 23:41

Thanks all for suggestions. Really appreciate it. I'm posting a better picture (hopefully?)

Just to clarify I was only putting Vaseline on my heel not on that point to help with dry skin. But not very good (regular) with it.

I will call up local podiatrists and check if I can get a quick appointment somewhere.

Some people have noted it's a corn and I really don't want to pick on it myself. It's also at a very weird angle for me to deal with or click a picture.

You could improve that yourself very quickly by soaking your feet every night and using a file and applying a cream with Urea in it,Vaseline will do sod all. Then you'll be able to see what you're dealing with. I get a tiny seed corn that is SO painful but I managed to remove it with a pair of tweezers. Lots of cream and filing to start with though!

Podiatrists round here are about £50 so be prepared!
