Hospital Bags Post-Surgery

Hi everyone, I’m waiting for a very big surgery. I will be in ICU for about a week initially, so won’t need pajamas at this time. After that, I will be on a ward for 2-3 weeks. I’m going to pack a small overnight bag for the first bit and a bigger bag with pajamas and sweats, etc… Any hints? A master list??? I’m bricking it and can’t think straight. I promise I will pack my toothbrush.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions. The big surgery has been put off for the time being. I am having a smaller surgery before Christmas which will hopefully keep me going until the bigger one next year some time. Not going to pretend I’m not relieved to put it off… Also have less to pack! Assuming all goes well, I’ll be in for a couple of days instead. I won’t need to pack the kitchen sink for this trip but will still need the bags packed just in case. You all sound smart enough to know I’m waiting for a transplant. It’s awful knowing that what will hopefully be the best news (long term) for me and my family is the worst news for someone else’s family. Such a huge thing to wrap my head around.

Sending best wishes @Fraaahnces .

I'm in hospital now and I use my notebook to write down the names of the staff. Everyone is so friendly and introduces themselves and I feel rude if I can't remember their names. I also write down what meds I've had and when

I have a printed out list of current meds as for some reason hospital can't easily see it .

I also have one of those Evian sprays that make you feel fresh

Best wishes for you @wizzler… I hope you have lovely nursing staff looking after you! I do love a face mist. I have one I take to work. Going to put it in the hospital bag.
