Does this sound like asthma

I'll start by saying I had asthma as a child but outgrew it by early secondary school. I was a premature baby (25 weeker at 1lb 9oz) and got every cough, cold, chest infection going growing up.

I've got really bad hayfever and need maximum prescription meds, oral tabs, nasal spray and eye drops for around 6 months of the year.

In the last 2 years I've had 2 chest infections needing antibiotics, steroids and an inhaler. I've had covid 4 times in 3 years too, worse symptoms each time.

The last 2 years my breathing has been worse which I put down to the above but I'm now wondering if asthma has come back?

When the pollen count is high my breathing is laboured, feels like I can't get breath all the way into my lungs, I have to breath faster and I cough a lot. It eases for a month or so then the colder air hits and my chest is tight as soon as I go outside, it almost feels like my lungs shrink a bit and I have to work harder for a deep breath and I cough.

Even going for a basic walk can trigger cough and wheezing and I'm coughing when I wake up.

This doesn't happen every day but it's more frequent now. Even now, I've been home from a walk for about 30 mins and I'm still breathing faster than usual.

Does this sound like asthma has come back? Or just linked to a weak chest?

With you breathing faster after a walk, I’d consider anaemia too.

could be.
you need to see your gp or asthma nurse.

Possibly, make an appointment to see your GP or asthma nurse for a review.

october is colder and brings on my asthma

It could be mast cell activation and overproduction of leukotrienes

Coughing when you wake up could well be asthma. You need to see the GP or asthma nurse and get it checked.
