Iron spray? Horrendous anemia and constipation

Help. I'm really anemic, last result was 3 umol/L.

Iron supplements make me really constipated. I'm really susceptible due to a prolapse.

I've seen an iron spray available. Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

constipation would be much less likely with an infusion than oral iron. Rather than drip feeding here it might be better to go back to your GP/whoever requested the bloods and chat to them about it because they'll be aware of your history and what options have been tried/remain.

OK this is where I fess up and say I had this latest done privately, via a pharmacy. I was feeling really tired and thought it was easy enough to get the bloods done myself rather than get an appointment with my gp. I then tried to restart spatone, and got the constipation.

The tests a year ago were through the gp. I'll make an appointment to discuss the latest.

Regarding the spray, does it make sense to you that it's unlikely to cause constipation, unlike the tablets? Due to my prolapse, I'm so susceptible to it.

@HanarCantWearSweaters @Pixiedust1234 thanks for sharing your experience. I'm going to give the spray a go.

Yes the spray is absorbed directly into your bloodstream; the constipation effects of tablets or liquids happen as they travel through the gut. The sprays don’t enter your gut so won’t cause constipation. Good luck Smile

@HelloVeritas @HundredMilesAnHour I've not heard of that one, thank you. I'm a vegetarian but quite frankly I'd be willing to put my ethics aside if this supplement can solve this problem. I'll try it if the spray doesn't work.

I take ferrous sulphate and laxido or movicol every day. Only way to counter the constipation.

Unfortunately I have to take movicol daily anyway, without iron supplements, due to prolapse.
