Multiple joints are painful

I started off with a sore big toe a couple of weeks ago. Then the thumb on the same side started hurting.

About a week ago I noticed that the elbow on the same side was sore, and for the last couple of days the other elbow too.

They’re constantly hurting, worse with movement. None are red, swollen or hot. I feel generally a bit stiff in the morning. I have Hashimotos and am 47. I go to the gym several times a week but have cancelled my class tonight as I’m so uncomfortable. I’m otherwise well.

I know that it’s too soon to go to the GP and we’re going on holiday in a few weeks so I’d rather hold off until after then. I’m worried that it could be something else autoimmune. Does anyone have any experience of this or any other ideas what it could be?

You have time to see a doctor before your holiday. Maybe you need a blood test.

Perhaps, but I know that if I see a dr now and have any tests I would have to disclose it to my travel insurance.

if I can put up with it for a bit I won’t

I also think that they’d send me away to give it a bit longer before investigating anything

I think a dr would investigate now given that you have multiple joints involved and if you have inflammatory arthritis it can really help to start treatment sooner rather than later. I'd def be getting seen asap with those symptoms

@DameKatyDenisesClagnuts is that likely with no swelling, redness or heat?

At my age I’m fully expecting them to put it down to menopause and send me packing!

Not sure tbh. But a blood test will tell you quickly.

Our GPs are encouraging us to use their newish appointments booking line. Routine GP appointments can be booked up to 2/52 in advance. Sounds great hey?!

Guess what? Nothing at all available to fit my requirements - any day / any time / any Dr. Not too demanding hey?! Do I try the 8am scramble tomorrow?!

Fair play.

After being in the queue for 25 minutes, I was told that a Dr would call me back later this morning. That happened after 5 minutes and I’ve got an appointment later today.
