Garmin Body Battery issues-any thoughts please

Hello

I got a garmin watch 2 months ago, for various reasons, and have found it useful for monitoring exercise etc. It also monitors stress which I'm concerned about (it's high). But the body battery levels are generally low and start dropping as soon as I get up. This morning I started at 19 and am already down to 13.
I'm on tamoxifen which saps my energy and vit b injections.

Anyway I'm worried it means something is amiss health wise. I've googled but can only find generic answers - take it easy, don't exercise if it's low etc.

Has anyone any experience of this or ideas? Don't think I should go to the doctors with it.

Do you wear it overnight?

Remember that a number of the health monitoring metrics can vary in reliability.

@AuntieStella yes I do. I've read that my watch is pretty accurate generally, and it does seem to be. I am knackered a lot though.

What's your sleep quality and quality like? I have a garmin and find the body battery a pretty accurate measure of how I'm feeling. If I do some exercise then I tend to sleep better and hence have a higher battery upon waking.

I'd keep wearing it but stop worrying about it as that's likely to increase your stress! I think they take a couple of months to get to know your body as well.

Just as an FYI I don't think it goes under a score of 5.

Thanks @Poggishairtufts. From the googling I know about 5 as lowest. I'm on 6 currently. Last night's sleep was late and short so that sort of explains it.
I do exercise and did swim and walk yesterday. I don't drink alcohol anymore.
And absolutely I am letting it worry and stress me. It's double edged as it is useful mostly.
Maybe it doesn't work accurately yet. I'll try more self care and less stress.

I'd recommend viewing any reports ftom Garmin as a prompt to ask yourself a question, rather than a definitive finding. Body battery low, am I feeling unusually in need of rest? Sleep quality score low, do I feel tired in the mornings? HRV reading low, am I overdoing it?

Many of the tools, particularly sleep quality, are based on population averages and aren't very robust- if you're a more fidgety sleeper than most you may get lower sleep scores even after a good night that leaves you rested.

I find the HRV trend is a better indicator of when I’m run down or fighting something off. The body battery is useful, but sometimes I wake up feeling terrible and my body battery is high so I wouldn’t rely on it too much. Have a look at the things that impact it - stress, sleep , HRV and activity and see what you can do to improve those and how body battery responds . The more you stress, the faster it will deplete.

@UnaOfStormhold thanks, that makes sense. I'm trying to notice all the major stats but not overly stress about them. I seem to need 9 hours sleep these days. Which I hadn't realised pre watch.
@Hivishero26 thanks. My stress levels are ridiculous. That's probably the main issue really. I will have to think about it.

Yes stress brings mine down but it's a very basic tool tbh and I think my body battery score is rarely accurate where as the rest of the data seems good. I did a short walk to my car the other day and it dropped me from 24 to 5 lol I felt fine, it wasn't even uphill Confused

rumred · 25/09/2024 21:59

Ha ha @drowninginsick no idea why it does such things, thinking about it, it drops quickly when I get up and have breakfast. Which makes little sense.

Thank you everyone for your comments. It's put it into perspective, which I really needed.
