Hi Mumsnet, you've just hidden a thread I wrote in this topic at the point I posted it

Why did you do that?

I posted the thread because I need advice

Well this one appears to still be functioning so I'll ask again here. Weird.

My GP surgery has made a gynae referral for me after years of peri problems around debilitating heavy periods. I've tried Mirena, tranexamic acid and hrt but none of them have worked. I've also had surgery for an ovarian mass and polyps.

None of this information was on the GP referral note. I know this because in the time it's taken to get an NHS appointment I've paid into Benenden and been given an appointment through them, so I requested my NHS referral letter to send to Benenden.

As I say no relevant clinical information on there. There was two lines under the 'information' heading. One said 'heavy bleeding ' date 2023, the other said 'benzodiazapine dependency' date 1999. That is literally the only information the surgery thought was relevant, from my long complex and painful medical and surgical history. I've never been addicted to benzodiazapine - I was prescribed Xanax in a different country (with different medication rules) around that time, briefly, when I lived in that country. I came back to the UK, asked for a prescription for it from my then doctor, got told it was controlled differently here, never took it again. But somehow this is on my record, is following me a quarter of a century later and is getting sent to a gynae clinic, while actual medical information relevant to a gynae clinic is not??!

I am actually really angry about this and don't know what to do. Should I contact the surgery and request that they send full relevant information? Also how do I get this bloody note took off my record?

Fuck me now my post has been hidden? What is going on here?

I thought this site was supposed to be about supporting people. Why are you blocking my posts??!

@TheLegend

No idea what's going on, sorry, but if you want someone at MN to read your op then you need to report your own post.

your second post might have been deleted by a volunteer in the night team if they were concerned about it.

report your opening post and someone will look at it in the morning.

Are you ok? Safe? If not call 999 or women's Aid/Samaritans etc.

NiteWotcha · 24/09/2024 01:23

NightWatch hasn’t hidden these posts

there are some spam filters etc that can catch some posts but not sure what has happened here…

TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:24

Bless you how kind, I am ok and appreciate your concern, there wasn't anything triggering or horrible in my posts, they were about a GP referral note which unsettled me.

SilkFloss · 24/09/2024 01:26

Guessing here but if it's the hospital's "your GP thinks you might have cancer" part of a referral letter, it's just the (cack-handed) way they phrase it when they refer you to get something (almost certainly minor) checked out for peace of mind.

TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:27

I can't seem to report my post on this thread. I just wanted advice on how to request a GP referral include relevant information and exclude irrelevant information.

OP posts:
SilkFloss · 24/09/2024 01:28

Ah sorry. Was off-track then.
You might get more traffic in the morning, however? Not just from passing insomniacs.
Good luck. x

TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:29

@SilkFloss no, I don't think so. My GP sent a referral to consultant which didn't reference any previous treatment/surgery I've had but which did say I'd been addicted to benzodiazapine when I haven't, ever.

NiteWotcha · 24/09/2024 01:30

@TheLegend I’ve reported your post so hopefully MNHQ can check in the morning and get back to you so you can post without triggering the filters Smile

TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:33

Thanks @NiteWotcha , I appreciate that. What on earth is going on though? I haven't said anything harmful or inflammatory. I just wanted advice about a situation that is upsetting me.

DryBiscuit · 24/09/2024 01:35

Maybe try posting again?

TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:36

Lol that's what this thread was, initially (ie an attempt at posting again) but they hid that first post with the relevant information.

OP posts:
TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:36

Ok I'll try again.

I got referred to gynaecological consultant after years of peri menopause difficulties. During those years I have had surgery for ovarian mass and polyps and medication in the form of tranexamic acid and hrt.

The NHS referral has taken a long time and in that time I have paid into and qualified for help through Benenden. Therefore I have seen my referral note. Which doesn't mention surgery or medication. It does however state that I have a benzodiazapine addiction. I do not and have never had a benzodiazapine addiction. I did briefly take Xanax in 1999 when living in a different country. When I came back to the UK I asked to continue that, was told I couldn't, never thought any more about it.

But now this very minor event is on my referral note as relevant information while none of my clinical/surgical history is. I am not happy about this and wonder what I can do about it.

OP posts:
TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:44

Well, that didn't work. FFS.

OP posts:
DryBiscuit · 24/09/2024 01:45

Can you change certain words?

Fosterfloof · 24/09/2024 01:45

@TheLegend Going by your brief description on what your post was about I would in the first instance contact the Practice Manager at your GP surgery to query why the GP had written what they had on the referral. You may find that it's on your notes (wrongly) and needs correcting. Then get them to contact the consultant sending the correct information.

Failing this I would send a letter to the Consultant explaining the situation and include the important information that you feel has been left out - it's what I have done in the past! HTH

TheLegend · 24/09/2024 01:48

@Fosterfloof thank you. If this was just an NHS referral I would do that but I've been waiting a long time for this appointment so have gone through Benenden in the meantime. I'm keen that they have proper information but I don't want to get charged extra for it.
