Jittery/Shaky - Periods? Peri? Blood Sugar?

Hi. I don't know if these are related but I'm going to just type it out as I think it!

I keep going shaky/jittery.
It's happened 3 times. Lasts about 20 mins each time and I've always eaten something after the jitters have started but I'm not sure if the act of eating something stops it or just a coincidence?

I'm Perimenopausal.

Currently on cycle day 4 of a heavy period. I get a heavy one every few months.

1st time of being jittery/shaky: week before period. I put this down to unusual PMS as I notice PMS is different/stronger in peri.

2nd time of being jittery/shaky: Yesterday.
Really heavy period flow today.

3rd time of being jittery/shaky: Today.
Period flow heavy but tapering off.
(My periods have taken to abruptly stopping flow).

I wonder if this is linked to periods in Perimenopause or heavy flow?

Each time, it's only lasted approx 20 mins.
Each time it's happened I've immediately eaten and drank something after it's started.

Blood sugar? (Not diabetic).

I don't eat particularly well.

Prior to being jittery/shaky today I had eaten the following:
Breakfast: Buttered Toast x 2. Hot Chocolate.
Mid-morning: Cup of Coffee.
Lunch: Ham Sandwich. Small glass of Coke. 4 Quality Street chocolates.

5 hours after my lunch I went jittery/shaky.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It could be low iron due to your periods, but it could also be low blood sugar as there’s quite a lot of sugar in what you’ve eaten.

Sounds like reactive hypoglycemia to me

Have you had your hba1c measured recently? I was getting these spells when mine was 38 and heading towards the pre diabetic range. When you get to middle age your body cannot handle refined carbs like it did when you are younger. I would recommend asking your GP for a blood test.

Thanks @thenightsaredrawingin

Good video. It was white bread that I ate too!

I'm writing down what I'm eating in case it happens again.
