Would you cancel holiday

Hello, regular poster on these boards recently..fed up of it all now !
To cut a very long story short , I have had a literally shit summer , with an inpatient stay for food poisoning , endless bowel problems because of it . Also developed high heart rate (had to go to AE ) which they think is due to settling infection , ecg etc normal, along with a continuing viral throat infection .
Basically I had another episode yesterday of high HR , it didn't last long , about 15 mins , and I didn't go to AE. Had someone at home. But felt awful afterwards , very tired . I've gone back to work a bit but barely managing , haven't really been out of house much since thing in AE, mainly due to the fatigue . Just feeling generally rubbish , most I've managed is a few hours . Not back to normal as in out, work, exercise , socialising .
We have our holiday this week , relaxing probably when we get there but 24 hours of travel ( not flying ) and a long route back , which normally we like but now just seems a lot .
I'm not sure if we should cancel . DH been looking forward to it for a long time , but I'm just exhausted and worried if I have another episode of high HR , what will happen .
Any advice ?

Can you still go. Break the journey up
With a hotel and leave a day or so earlier to have a few days at home before you go back to work?

Which is why you would be well advised to contact the insurance company

Yes, absolutely. They do often redirect you back to GP!

I am not saying you are wrong but in my experience I've never known an insurance company to direct you back to GP

They did it to me twice.

Either way, OP needs to declare conditions as they arise. Easily overlooked.

Agree, OP would be best to declare

As an aside @rubyslipperss - and please note I am not medically trained- have you been tested for Lyme disease?? Only because your symptoms (including the periods of high HR) sound similar to a friend of mine who had Lymes.

This is what I haven't done , I didn't tell them in the summer when I was acutely ill.
Thanks to this who seem to know something about cancelling , I'm going to ring them again to check now .

No they didn't mention that but they only test for it where I am if you have seen a tick on you which I haven't had .

Is your destination covered by the GHIC and have you got one? I would feel happy going if you know you can use the healthcare system, either that way or through insurance.

I would still go unless you think you're going to feel too ill to enjoy it, unless it's a long way from decent medical care.

I've just called them back and they said because it's classed as unforeseen I would be covered !

Yes it is just in Europe and covered . I'm absolutely terrible at deciding this stuff . Im just not sure worth going away if don't feel 100% and not going to enjoy .

Oh , good news. That's what I got last year and it was food poisoning (at least GP put that).

I would advise caution.

I have had a period of illness.
I forced myself to set out on the holiday we had planned. It was a long drive this side of the channel then a ferry then another long drive to reach our destination.
I made it only half way before becoming really unwell.
We cut our losses and returned home. I just wish I had not tried to be so “brave” in attempting the holiday.
All I have achieved is to set my recovery back and severely inconvenience my travelling companions.
Good luck and a fast recovery!

Edited

That sounds difficult for you - and that's what I'm afraid of I guess.
