Celiac disease in children

Hello all,

My 10yr son has been having several on/off issues since end of February this year. In March he ended up in hospital for 4 days where they took bloods, doctor there advised testing for celiacs disease as well as many other things. After he was discharged I chased this result many times but was never given results, spoke to GP who advised it was probably lost and would need repeated so referred us to peads due to son having ASD and faints at the site of blood so they didn't think they could manage his bloods at the surgery.

Fast forward to this week, symptoms have returned severely so I contacted the GP, got through to a locum who I went through everything with and he said the celiac results were there (6 months later). He said there was 2 tests done one about antibodies in tissues was positive, and the other test was borderline negative.

Firstly I'm fuming but I'll deal with that with a complaint after I get my son well. The doctor said they want a repeat test done next week, why would this be? If one is positive is that not enough to confirm it and start a gluten free diet so I can try and relieve my son's suffering and misery? I am so worried about him.

Hopeful bump. Does anyone else have a child diagnosed with celiacs disease could give me an idea as to why the blood test would need repeating? I spoke to the practice nurse on the phone after posting this and they said the TTg was positive but the IGA was the negative/borderline one.
