'Wrong cells' on cervix

So I pottered off to the GP yesterday after some very mild post-meno bleeding a couple of weeks back expecting to be told all was fine. Except she actually told me she could see 'something' on my cervix, some odd cells that shouldn't be there and instead referred me for an ultrasound and colposcopy. Then I got a call from the clinic within 10 minutes of leaving the doctors to make an appointment, which they offered me within 4/5 days.
Slightly freaked out by the speed of things and while I know there's a huge huge chance it's all fine, it's a bit unnerving. 😣
I can't think too much about it just now, my eldest DC is leaving for uni this weekend and it's hard enough dealing with all those emotions without this as well. I just needed to tell someone I think that I'm a bit freaked out.

It's unnerving when a doctor takes it seriously because you half hope they will tell you it's nothing! But it's good that you're having the tests so quickly so they can rule out anything serious x

Have your smear tests always been normal?

It is good you are being seen soon.

Yes always normal, last one a couple of years ago.

I’ve had something similar in the past OP and it feels so scary but there’s a very high likelihood there is nothing wrong. It’s very common to have abnormal cells etc. on the cervix. It’s great that you will get it checked quickly and might get more frequent smear tests going forward. I went into a total spin convinced myself I had cancer - it was absolutely fine and required no further treatment.

That is good all previous tests have been normal.

Hopefully, you will have an answer soon.

Sending hugs - and to say I missed moving my eldest into his uni residence last week because I had been referred for urgent scans at the breast clinic (the scans were clear and it’s turns out it’s hormonal) so I know how absolutely overwhelming it feels to be juggling this worry with the transition of having an eldest move away!

I had a similar thing that was picked up when I went for a coil fitting. Colposcopy, Letz proceedure to remove the cells, did a biopsy and it all came back clear. Not a huge amount of fun, but that was 5 years ago and no sign of the cells since. They fast track to be on the safe side, but don't assume that means it is bad news. Either way, good to get it looked at and treated fast

Im off for my appointment today but there's been a whole lot of confusion between the doc and hospital so actually have just ultrasound today and need to find out when I'm there about the colposcopy side of things.
on the plus side, eldest is settled in well and enjoying freshers week so at least that's one worry gone!

Finally got my colposcopy appointment through for next week. Never had one before so googled what to expect and stories range from nothing to worry about to excruciating pain! 😩
