Chilblains

After a few short weeks of respite, my chronic chilblains are back.

They're mainly on the fingers of one hand, and while I know no-one ever died of chilblains, they're thoroughly annoying (sore) and unsightly. Any temp under about 15 degrees as well as stress sets off a new bout, and no amount of cashmere wristies/keeping warm etc seems to help. They're getting worse year on year.

I think I'm mainly posting for sympathy and fellow sufferers, but any magic bullets warmly (Grin) welcome.

Have you looked into Raynauds phenomenon?
Dc has this and was in pain, constantly having infections and blistering especiallyon feet. Started on nifedipine and has not had one infection in 3 years. Toes still go cold and slightly discoloured but no pain.

Thanks - I have wondered if I have Raynauds actually, but have never been to GP about it and hadn't got so far as looking into medication.

I advise my patients to try a snow fire stick, useful for hands and feet. Gentle heat through layers and no extreme heat /cold
