2ww colonoscopy

Hi all, I’ve been put on the 2ww for colonoscopy following a positive fit test. Doc said def positive and I’ve looked at the numbers on the nhs app and it’s above 400 (healthy = below 10). Blood tests were ok, anemic and a funny liver number but I am now in the pit. I have children aged between 2 and 11, dh and full time job. How do I get through the next two weeks? I don’t want to google numbers any more, have done that and frankly terrifying. Am a biologist so a basic understanding but nothing medical. Has anyone got any advice? I feel so sad and normally I’m able to look at the glass half full but this is really scary.

I suffer with HA so not entirely sure I’ll be much use to you OP but just wanted to send love.

I don’t know a lot about this kind of thing (but I’m sure I’ll be an expert in it if I have to go through it), but assume the test is looking for blood? And presumably many many causes, such as IBD, polyps, which are benign?

I had a really high FIT test. Colonoscopy was clear, and it was put down to having piles. I've definitely read on here that it is a teeny tiny percentage of colonoscopies that find cancer. There are so many other explanations for a positive FIT test.

@Quicknamechangequery hope you're doing ok. Have you had your colonoscopy?

DryBiscuit · 24/09/2024 01:04

I was on a 2ww cancer referral

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy
10 biopsies were taken

Biopsies took 23 weeks to come back and to finally get those results i had to ring, leave msgs and talk to lots of different people to finally get answers

My GP still haven't received them

I really hope you get your results fast !

Thanks for checking in. I had it yesterday, 12 biopsies but no cancer visible which was great, probable ibd which is a manageable outcome. Really hope your results come fast drybiscuit, I am sure I’ve got a bit of a wait too!
