she keeps going into the kitchen and shouting "eeeeeeeeeesssssss" (cheese or please, take your pick) at the fridge, and then crying

Or alternatively what would be the best thing to give in and let her have?

No dairy I know.

Let her eat. They are too small to go without. If she's hungry,it is a good sign.

FrannyandZooey · 18/04/2008 18:00

if she wants to eat, the best thing is to let her

bananas, rice, apples, toast
(BRAT)

fletchaaarr · 18/04/2008 18:02

I gave in earlier, she threw it ALL up within an hour though

couscous? (she is going through a phase of hating bananas and any kind of bread related products)

doctor told me that starving through D+V is old hat for toddlers and babies, if they want food they must have it. Little and often and of course, as you say, no dairy - BRAT is the key

Seona1973 · 18/04/2008 18:29

give them starchy foods e.g. pasta, potatoes, rice as well as the BRAT items. cous cous could be ok too.

fletchaaarr · 18/04/2008 19:07

she has had toast

I am presuming that I am AOK to give the usual BF at bed time?

the trick is only tiny bits at a time - gingerbread biscuits are good. When DS was sick last week he was allowed one biscuit and a few sips of diluted apple juice. If he kept it down he could have the same again like an hour later. Also dry toast or toast with a little bit of jam or cereal or apples.

lucyellensmum · 18/04/2008 19:12

when DD was sick like that i was already FF, i was told to dilute it - could you express and dilute? I might be talking complete shit here though - impressed and envious that you are still BF

PosieParker · 18/04/2008 19:13

No dairy is a myth, according to my GP?? She strongly recommends porrige and if you want to keep off dairy use soya milk, very sweet and will not taste any different in porride., mashed potato with olive oil?

PosieParker · 18/04/2008 19:14

And fliuds little and often, 10 ml every 10 minutes or more if you can.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/04/2008 19:23

My 2.2 yr old is eating whatever she likes through it (just demolished a huge plate of broccoli and lemon sole!). She only seems to be sick between 4:30 and 6:30 in the morning though .

cockles · 18/04/2008 19:26

MIne has d. and a bit of v. and he is insistently having pasta and bananas, which seems like it should help somehow. Don't think there's any reason to deny them food, or dairy come to that.

Sugarmagnolia · 18/04/2008 19:27

You have a stronger stomach than i do then cantsleep! I would just spend the whole night imagining what that broccoli and lemon sole is going to be like in the morning.

fletchaaarr · 18/04/2008 19:28

well she chucked up in the bath, while I was trying to sort out her PJs (DS1 was with her). To top it all my washing maching hasn't worked for the last 2 days so I am Soooooooooo short of clothes.

She is quite cheerful though. I am going to take her to bed soon and hope that tomorrow is better....

she is now trying to drink DHs wine

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 18/04/2008 19:40

Don't make me think about it sm - good job I don't get morning sickness!

Actually, dh has just returned from a week in Memphis, so I think it will be his turn to deal with any mess in the morning .

ChopsTheDuck · 18/04/2008 19:41

well the advice now is to feed them if they are hungry. How old is she? I've explained to mine about nasty bugs in their tummys that don't like toast, and will all go away if they eat toast.
