Yesterday we had a family day out and got a McDonald's as a treat. Afterwards I was seriously bloated, my stomach felt like it was going to explode, it was so tight. I thought I'd just had too much food and had trapped wind, went for a walk to try and relieve some of the pain and thought by morning it would be better. Had an awful night of sleep, kept getting pressure that made me breathless, like the bloat was pushing against my lungs. My upper abdomen is distended and tender to touch. I called my GP this morning and got seen. When I lay on the table for her to examine, it wasn't particularly painful at that moment but was tender when she pressed further down. She said it could just be indigestion after eating a McDonald's and prescribed me some omeprazole and said if it gets worse then to call back.

The symptoms eased off slightly through the day today, but after eating I feel the same again, like my stomach is going to explode from the bloating. It's so uncomfortable.

Has anyone gone through similar? I've done some research and a few symptoms point to pancreatitis, but I'm obviously not a doctor.

Pancreatitis is apparently excruciating, so I doubt its that. Just sounds like the vile indigestion that I and my friends sometimes suffer from. If it were me, I would keep regular, allow a couple of weeks for the omeprazole to take effect and keep away from junk food.

I get these exact symptoms caused by gluten intolerance. You could try eliminating common triggers from your diet and then re introduce foods gradually along with starting a food diary. I'm not a doctor and would always advise to talk to your GP though.

I get this all the time and I was diagnosed through an endoscopy with gastritis which is just stomach irritation apparently! It's awful

Thanks all. I got a blood test done and just got a call back saying my amylase level is raised. So could be something to do with my pancreas. Got to get another blood test in a week. Can't help but worry now about the worst

I get that when eating cheap white bread containing mould inhibitor. It's really uncomfortable.

It started when I was about 40. I switched to wholemeal bread and the issue went away.

My concern was that it wasn't usual bloating like I've had many times. It was my upper abdomen that was bloated. My stomach looked like a B shape. It was like I had an inflated balloon above my belly button. I don't regularly have fast food but have never had this issue before. With my blood levels coming back raised, I'm slightly concerned. It may just be a coincidence that it happened after eating fast food, but I've noticed after my evening meals this week that I'm getting the same discomfort, despite limiting my fat intake and gluten.
